Harappan cities like Mohenjo Daro traded with Sumerian cities by means of the Arabian Sea. Exports included cotton, spices, ivory, and jewelry. [National Geographic Almanac, p. 56-7] The desertion of Harappan cities began in about 1750 BC. [Bauer: Ancient History, p. 195] The writing, on assorted seals around the time of Sargon, has never been deciphered. [Bauer: Ancient World, p. 104-5] "However, they [the Aryans] did not immediately set out to conquer the Indus valley. They lived among the Seven Rivers for at least a century before moving farther south and east. By the time they made their way down to the Harappan cities, the Harappan civilization had already tottered and fallen." [Bauer: Ancient World, p. 192-4]
