Synopsis
"Washed-up photojournalist Richard Boyle's (James Woods) bad habits keep him from getting jobs, so he heads to El Salvador with his pal Dr. Rock (James Belushi) to find work amidst the country's fledgling civil war. But he soon finds that the danger is more than he can handle. Boyle and Rock realize that they need to flee before the violence escalates, but Boyle doesn't want to leave his new girlfriend (Elpidia Carrillo) behind. Oliver Stone directs." [Netflix]
"The film tells the story of American journalist covering the Salvadoran Civil War who becomes entangled with both the FMLN and the right wing military while trying to rescue his girlfriend and her children. The film is highly sympathetic towards the left-wing revolutionaries and strongly critical of the U.S.-supported military, focusing on the murder of four American churchwomen, including Jean Donovan, and the assassination of Archbishop Óscar Romero by death squads."
