Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
"Queen Mary I had not forgiven Cranmer for his part in arranging Henry's divorce from her mother, Catherine of Aragon. A devout Catholic, she saw it as her divine duty to return England to the true faith and had reintroduced the laws against heretics. Far from winning back souls, her brutal policies created more martyrs, and more than 300 Protestants were burned in the last years of 'Bloody' Mary's reign." [Furtado: 1001 Days]
