Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
In 395, the empire was divided by the two sons of Theodosius, Honorius in the west and Arcadius in the east. Rome was sacked by Alaric the Goth in 410. When Honorius died in 423, he left an empire that was weakened by revolts and usurpers. [Furtado: 1001 Days]
