Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
Peter and other Christians were killed by order of Nero who claimed that Christians caused the Great Fire of Rome in 64. Peter had moved to Rome in about 42 as leader of the church. Claudius expelled the Christians and Jews from the city between the late 40s and 56 for "disruptive squabbling." Peter is thought to be buried at the Basilica of St. Peter in the Vatican. The structure was originally built by Emperor Constantine the Great. [Furtado: 1001 Days] "And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it." [King James Bible, Matthew 16: 18]
