Macedonia became a Roman province in -146. King Perseus led the Macedonians (40,000) against the Roman forces (40,000). 25,000 Macedonians were killed versus 100 Romans. The Romans fought with spears and short swords while the Macedonian army uses pikes. [Furtado: 1001 Days]
"And the possibility of support for Hannibal from Macedon pushed the Romans into a series of wars in northern Greece that ended with the defeat of the Macedonian king Perseus in 168 BCE by Aemilius Paullus, Scipio Aemilianus’ natural father, and soon after with Roman control over the whole of what we call mainland Greece."
