"In a spectacular display of military skill, Israeli commandos ended the hostage drama at Uganda's Entebbe airport. The drama began a week earlier when four militants, two from the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine (PFLP) into from Germany's Red Army Faction, hijacked an Air France airline are enroute from Israel to Paris. When it arrived at Entebbe, it was met by Ugandan dictator Idi Amin, gave a speech in support of the PFLP. The militants released most passengers, but kept the Israeli citizens and those with Jewish names. They demanded the release of 53 other militants held in five different countries and threatened to kill the hostages, now held in the airport building." [Furtado: 1001 Days]
