Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
"Surrounded by Soviet forces in Stalingrad since November 22 and with no supplies or relief able to get through, the German Sixth Army and commander Friedrich Paulus finally surrendered to the Soviet army. . . . Some 91,000 German soldiers, including 22 generals, were marched into captivity in Siberia. The survivors became the last German prisoners of war to be released by the Soviets in 1955, 12 years after their surrender. Only 5000 were still alive." [Furtado: 1001 Days]
