Excerpts from Books and Wikipedia
"An Allied delegation led by France's Marshall Ferdinand Foch and Britain's Admiral Rosslyn Wernyss laid down the non-negotiable demands, including Germany's withdrawal from France and Belgium, demilitarization of the Rhineland, and surrender of the German fleet. Erzberger prevaricated but, pressured by the new Social Democratic government in Berlin, which had replaced the departed Kaiser, he signed. Initially the armistice was for just 30 days, but it was renewed regularly until the Treaty of Versailles of June 28, 1919." [Furtado: 1001 Days]
